What is your Subaru Primal Quest?
Subaru Chronicle Winner Fourth Place 2002
When the Twin Towers' lights were lit, we (a family of five)
eagerly took the adventure to see them for ourselves. After packing our
Impreza Sport Subaru we started the 900-mile journey from Gurley Alabama to
NY, NY. We drove non-stop right to the Twin Tower Lights and it took about
15 hours. It was 100% better, seeing it in person, then the TV could ever
portray. Being around ground 0 filled our hearts with the emotions, which
continues to fill the air across the world, of that tragic day.
After this one-day trip with a packed car we enjoyed the tour of Time
Square, and Manhattan. Next morning we walked from 97th passed ground 0 and
on to Battery Park where we took the Ferry over to view Lady Liberty. The
next day we traveled to Portland Maine to capture a few lighthouses. While
enjoying our meal at The Lobster Shack the fog started to roll in. Emergency
Helicopters were combing the area insisting fishing boats to head back.
Snowflakes started to fall; we enjoyed the view of the rumbling tide against
the seashore rocks.
Well on to New Hampshire, maybe even on to Vermont, as far as the Subaru
would take us! We saw fewer and fewer cars on the road, and radio stations
were advising to only travel if necessary because now the snowflakes turned
into a blizzard. White Mountain was so beautiful we had to stop to have a
snowball fight. The only vehicles we saw on the road were snowplows, we felt
now it was time to find a hotel.
The next morning we headed back with one turn of the Subaru key.
Even though it spent all night cover with ice and snow.
